Welcome to Charlotte!

‘Charlotte’s got a lot’ isn’t just the city’s destination brand. It’s a fact. Some cities are known for their skyline, others for their sports, arts or dining scene. Still others are recognized as a great place to do business or raise a family. But in Charlotte, the city boasts all of the above and then some.

Once thought of as a second-tier southern city, Charlotte now holds its own on the national stage as a vibrant, must-see destination that hums with commerce and activity. Few cities of this size can lay claim to the thriving arts, music, cuisine, shopping and sports scene, all combined with a healthy dose of regal southern hospitality.

The urban core of Charlotte’s business, entertainment and cultural sites — including several stunning pieces of public art — are located in Center City. Scattered amidst the gleaming skyscrapers that make up the city’s magnificent skyline are beautiful parks and green spaces, world-class museums, Fortune 500 businesses, sports and entertainment arenas, plentiful accommodations and restaurants in high demand.

Center City, also known as Uptown for being the highest point in the city, is surrounded by diverse and eclectic communities. Drive, bike, stroll or take public transportation through Dilworth, Myers Park, Elizabeth and Plaza Midwood, all original streetcar era neighborhoods dating back to the late 19th century. Canopied under massive oaks, these suburbs give you a glimpse into Charlotte’s storied history. Now considered part of the city’s urban center, their continued revitalization speaks to the city’s present and future.

Newer communities like South Park and Ballantyne have a different but no less authentically Charlotte vibe, along with plenty of recreational, entertainment, dining and shopping offerings.
